Images from six to sixteen feet wide with seating for two to twenty. Although theater styles and options vary greatly, the one common measure of success is that they all provide a space and experience that allows the audience to become immersed in the film.
While rear screen TVs and plasmas can provide a great picture, their displays are still too small to achieve a real theater experience. Therefore most theaters require a separate screen and projector. The projector can be located behind the screen, or it can be hidden in a rear wall or overhead bulkhead. Similarly, the screen can remain visible, or it can be concealed behind cabinetry or drapes, or it can be rolled up in the ceiling.
Obviously, there is a greater range of possibilities if the project is still in the pre-construction phase, but existing spaces can often be transformed without extraordinary cost or effort.
